Hi,

My ds has just gone back to ms the Senco has sent me a letter saying his teacher and her (Senco) are going to assess him this week. Then on 17th they are going to have a confidential meeting with inclusion support to see if they can get him external help.

Can someone please tell me who inclusion support are? What does this mean? What should I be doing? Is it worth trying to go for a statement?

Ds has hypermobility, disordered speech disorder, spd, he scored high enough to get an autism dx too but paed wants to see if as speech hopefully improves other areas improve to, paed has also mentioned ADHD.

Thank you in advance.

No idea about inclusion, but by the sounds of it your son has more going on than mine and I have just applied for satatory assessment - so yes, trying a statement may be good idea

I would certainly now apply for a statement.

Use IPSEA's website www.ipsea.org.uk and write that letter to Chief Education Officer at your LEA asap. The council offices will give you that person's name.

You will need to give them six weeks to reply (mark that date on your calendar).

How is the SENCO and his class teacher actually going to assess your DS?.

Inclusion support is short term financial support.

My ds (5) is supported by Inclusion support. In our county the service is only available until the end of YR1 though. I requested a referral when ds was in pre school. They work with children who are normally on school action plus.

In our county they are specialist Teachers who work with parents and school. They have helped us by going into school to help them support ds better... however having looked at our LA website recently this service is about to change.

They also help with referring to other services, SALT, OT etc. It really depends on the teacher provided, we were given a great one who has been a great support to me but I have a friend who specialist teacher is really quite useless.

Hi,
Thanks for your help and advice.
Attila I don't know how they are planning on assessing him tbh, I will ask when I pick up today.
You have all confirmed what I was thinking about applying for a statement.
Thank you I will get on and start the process.
