DD1's transport is truly part of her 'school experience' and she adores both her escort and her driver. On special occasions (Easter, end of term, Christmas, etc.) her driver decorates the bus. Last term's last day of term saw the bus decorated with a Hello Kitty banner and balloons. Her escort gives her little presents for Christmas and an Easter egg at Easter.

During the journey they play games (doctors, etc.) or read books, colouring, etc.

It's something she would really miss if I took her to school myself.

Thank you lougle that's really comforting .dd2 is verbal but seems to have quite limited understanding so I've been worried about what she will make of the transport y

DS3 went on transport to his SN pre-school (an hour journey back as he was last dropped off), and to be honest, going on the minibus was the best part of his day! His escort was very kind. He loved the minibuses so much that when ever we see a Sunshine bus in passing, he would always point it out as being 'his' bus. I wrote to the Sunshine bus company and they very sweetly sent him a model replica one which he loves to play with. Good luck for tomorrow Smile

Lougle, your daughter's transport sounds amazing! My daughter's has varied over the years. Currently not too great in terms of time keeping etc, hoping it will improve. She does like getting her mini bus though!

Good experience here too. DS1 & 2 both started going on transport aged 4, journey was about 40 minutes one way. Escort was lovely, caring lady who kept 'em in line when necessary. Most drivers were fine, bar the odd grump.

Thank you so much all of you for sharing your experiences

Hi autumnsmum. Me too! He was part time last week but this week he is full time and starting transport. I've been in a right stress because he's been crying saying he won't go on the bus. By a stroke of luck the transport peoe have just been round out house to confirm times and now he is leaping round the house saying yay I'm going on the bus! Lol. I nearly didn't answer the door because I didn't recognise the people, thank god I did!! Good luck tomorrow

autumnsmum · 08/09/2013 18:52

Thanks moving forward we will have to compare experiences tomorrow
