Has anyone ever experienced this? Full time 1:1 without statement?

My Children have gone back to school this week and I cant quite believe it but my son now has a full time 1:1 TA without a statement.

Its that simple, after years of moving around every year with the army we decided to buy a house so our son (ASD,4th of 5 children)could get the support he so needs. he has a diagnosis but no statement of sen as yet but his school (mainstream primary)recognises his needs and already have sorted this..

That's fantastic! Can't say I've heard of it happening - well done for your school finding the resources and providing necessary help.

My 4 year old ASD started school this week but sadly his Statement was turned down, so now onwards to the Tribunal to seek an appeal!

Heart-warming though to hear your story and to know there are some happy endings Smile

Ds 9 has full time 121 without a statement, some leas do this to reduce statements I think.

My son started this week and has 1 to 1 with a TA with
diagnosis, no statement yet also.

It has happened in my ds' school, but only where the child displays very challenging behavior. One child has 2-1 FT without a statement, and he's been referred for a SA now.

Ds had full time 1-1 without a statement, he did get a statement at a later date.

Wow again! This has given me renewed hope and I may speak to the school SENCO about this, in case my appeal isn't successful.

My son has fulltime 1:1 but I have been asking for a statement for four years. He is a "delightful" boy no challenging behaviour, just is not able to function without help.

We have a lovely school but they believed the County strategy which was incorrect.

It's only now that he is more than two years behind and I have had to take them to tribunal (they backed down) that they have finally agreed to a statement.

We are only at the proposed statement stage but already feel how much more they could have done with a statement. His provision even with full 1:1 is inadequate.

My advice to anyone would be:
They fob you off in the beginning and tell you allsorts of lies and I was so gullible I believed that they had our best interests at heart. The staff might not even know that what they are telling you is wrong due to all the county training they are given.
You have to know your stuff or get mumsnet to help.
Just smile sweetly and press on with the statement regardless. Even with a statement they try to tell you he does not need XYZ.

My 5 yr old, suspected ASD, awaiting assessment but no diagnosis yet has 15 hours a week 1:1 plus daily speech therapy. No Statement.

My daughter has no challenging behaviour and is happy and pleasant natured.
