Are you supposed to get a round up of the week or day or whatever from your childs one to one?

Time for a little information sharing and such like?

Just started at school so its all a bit Confused to us Smile

Depends entirely on the school and what has been agreed.

In ds' statement it said fortnightly meetings for 10mins with CT and TA for first term, then monthly after that.

Ds started his new school yesterday, I didn't bother to ask his class teacher or TA how it went. I assumed if it went terribly they would tell me.

However ds has a home/school contact book which TA and I can write in and I will be having a meeting with school in a couple of weeks. And I am trying to down play the 'over anxious mum' label.

Will have to look at the statement. Many thanks.

I handed my sons teacher his latest pead report and a leaflet in his condition. It's hard as I want her to know from the off what's going on, but at same time she needs to get to know him. We have a contact book. Maybe ask for one and then ask when best to catch up?

We did do a 'guide to my child' based on the portfolio cerebra can produce for you. All about his condition, causes, how it affects him, as well as family, pets, hobbies, etc. Also therapies and hints on how to manage him.

We've also been given a weekly contact book (phew) to update us so I think its all sorted. Total school virgins Grin

When our son was in the infants we had a daily catch-up with the teacher as the children were released from the classroom door into the playground.

When our son moved into the Juniors there was no interaction between us and his teachers unless I made a point of going over to them and making conversation. It was seen that as the children progressed into the Juniors, they were deemed more capable and believed to be pampered in the infants. They didn't want to believe the written reports etc. and were in for a wake-up call when they realised things weren't going to miraculously disappear with our child.

Our son now has an LSA who has moved with him through the years. We've been very lucky in that we have a home/school log folder where we communicate about any issues or even good things. We occasionally go a week without any communication but generally there is at least one comment from one of us.

Personally I'd push for a school/home diary for updates unless you are able to interact face to face easily with the teacher for daily updates.

Thanks. We will certainly need to update on a regular basis when things change so its got to be a two way street. Hopefully as he has a dedicated TA it will be easier than trying to collar a busy teacher every week.
