ds is on an oral form of hyoscine, he had a big problem with drooling, and it completely sorted the problem.

Now the drool is back! With a vengeance!!

Does anyone know if it can just stop being effective?

It's not that it stops working its that your body develops a resistance to same dosage , you need to speak to your gp about dosage and maximum limits you can progress to. There will come a time where it no longer works and has other efforts that may be unwanted , so go back to gp or who prescribed it and see what they say . You can only give so much or you can overdose on , so don't just increase yourself , as can cause kidney/ liver problems like any drug if taken too much over a long period of time.

How long has he been on oral hyoscine? I have found Glycopyrrolate is not so effective, she has been using it for nearly a year so we are now using hyoscine patches as well.

Thankyou, I wondered about dosage. He has been on it for about 6 months, it is actually the injectable form, as he is allergic to the glue in the plasters. He has 0.5 ml in the morning and another at night.

We play around with the dose DD takes of glyco. Some days she needs a bit more than others - but a fractional increase can stop the drooling. I asked our paed for the dosage guidelines on weight so I know I am not doing anything bad. Strangely DD has not needed her dose to be consistently ( for more than 48hours) increased since about 2 years ago! The glyco works so well on her. We find teething mucks up the dosage, would this affect your DS? I'm not sure if that's helpful!

we use it in the form of scopoderm patches and it only stops working if some little devil removes the patch!
