My clever boy

Yesterday we went for a day out. We had to pass DS's old nursery, he's 6, ASD and speech/language delay.
When we've passed it in the past, we'll say "oh time for nursery" and he'll shout "no,no not nursery"
Anyway, yesterday we said the same and he said, "yes, yes go to nursery" and then he carried that on for the next 20 mins, like a dog with a bone even though we said no, you're too big.
On the way home, approaching the nursery again, he said "want to go to nursery". I said "why?" And he responded " want to go in bed, play baby in the bed!"
I was astounded, 1) as he replied correctly in response to the why
2) when I used to pick him up he would be squashed into a toy cot playing in the bed, one of his favourite games at home
3) my boy is really starting to express himself
4) he's recalling a past (quite a lot in the past) event
Hurrahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! Grin

I had a similar experience in that my son, (ASD), now 6, recognised the pond on Wandsworth Common and said "Oh, nursery is this way" - completely out of the blue and 2 years later.

Such a small thing can feel such a big deal - a bit of dialogue between you - something a lot of parents take as 'normal', but means so much for us! x
