Hi there

Just wanted to see if anyone had used these cushions in school and if they helped any ?

Also, other than standing last in the line , if anyone has any other tips I would really love to hear them.

Sometimes being first in the line is better as they aren't seeing the people in front of them, I guess it'll take a bit of experimenting to see which is right for your dc.
When you say cushion do you mean an inflatable 'wobble' cushion? My ds has used one at home and it has helped a bit but at school he would just mess about and put it on his head!

I never thought about him seeing other people , thank you I will think about that.

Yes, I mean the wobble cushions. I was kind of hoping the sensory input would help calm things down. I can totally see how messing could happen :-) My other worry is teasing - Its hard to know .

Thank you so much for the reply

Cross posted - yes thank you the log jam is a trigger for sensory issues - I am so glad I posted. Wonder how being first in line would affect relations in the class with others. Maybe at 9 that will be less than of an issue. Thank you

The kids don't tease (the mov n sit cushion) - quite the opposite. They all want one. And whenever they have to swap chairs everyone wants my DCs chair.

While in primary school it's a very easy intervention to use.

Of course they do get teased for their running and anger and other things.

My DC also have writing slopes, fiddle toys and movement breaks.

Lining up last rather than first works best for my DS. Because when he was first everyone would push past him on the way to their desk.

Re school lining up, have you spoken to school about other options? Does he have to line up? Could he go in e.g. either 2 mins earlier or 2 mins later than everyone else? Does he have a 1:1 supporter and can they or a TA come out and get him to take him in? Can he wait with you and you take him in separately from the line if that will help?

He was going in last up until last year . His job was to make sure everyone got where they were going safety . Ideally I would love him to get to pop in just as bell goes but I would have to check with school. They go to class in morning so its just break times. No 1:1 here. I don't know if its more obvious as they get older but things seemed to get harder last year so I am trying to cover all bases this year. I really appreciate all the answers .
