Hearing aids and glasses

Please can any one help? DD has Emanuel Syndrome and needs specs and hearing aids. She is quite happy to wear both but due to her syndrome her ears are very "floppy" and aids do not stay in unless supported by elastic and hair slides
PROBLEM she needs long hair to secure aids and every morning results in a MASSIVE hissy fit as she hates having her hair done.
My gut feeling is to get hair cut very short but how do I keep aids in?
TIA

Have you tried toupee tape at all? A little bit stuck on the side of the aids nearest the skin might take some of the load off of the top of the ear. You can get them from online wig shops and the like....

a few ideas here the phonafix are very similar to huggies which some audiology depts give out so worth asking there too. Connevans have a great customer service phone line, might be worth giving them a ring too. We used the kids clip when dd3 was little, it worked well for us as it has a bit that slides up to the back of the neck and stops them flapping around so much plus they can't get lost if they do fall out.

2old2beamum - did Audiology talk about bone conduction aids to you? If her ears are becoming too problematic to help secure the aids and the glasses, ask them about bone conduction hearing aids (bcha). The BCHA are worn at first on a clip attached to a wide elastic soft band like an Alice band. The sound vibrates through the skull. My dd was born without ear canals so she has had to use BCHA and when she was 7 she had a surgery to implant an abutment in her skull to wear the BCHA directly. We had a Bone Anchored Hearing Aid known as a BAHA. She now wears a Oticon Ponto Pro which has been very successful. DS4 also wears a BAHA on a softband as though he has external ears and ear canals his middle ear is malformed. He will be having the abutment surgery when he is about 8.

BAHA

Have you tried glasses with hearing aids built into them, they may not be an option as she is very young, or I think they may be BCHA as well but it's worth asking the audiologist.

2old if you do decide to go the Bone Conduction route, can I push you towards the Oticon Ponto Pro. There has been a lot of favourable support from BAHA users who have switched from the BAHA to the Ponto. My DD being one of them! DS4 is due an upgrade and I've asked them to switch over to the Ponto from the BAHA.

Flowers to all.
Have followed up your advice, Unfortunately she is not a suitable candidate for a BAHA. The powers that be say as she has a significant immune deficiency putting a foreign object in her body was not a good idea.
However the audiology dept are going to send me something that will hold the HA to the glasses . If this does not work will enquire about BCHA.
Thanks to all

The BAHA can be worn on a Softband. That's what I do for DS4. It works well. Smile
