Have first meeting at new indi school next week, with professionals, SW, CAMHS, Home tutor from medical needs (CAMHS have had no involvement for months and SW is new and we have met her once)

Ds was previous out of school for almost a year and had home tuition for 7 months.

Ds has had his transition period where home tutor stayed with him all the time. Starting at 2 half days for 4 weeks, then 2 full days last week. He will be starting full time in September, without home tutor.

He now has a statement, which is a rubbish. However, due to several reasons, I finalised rather than appeal, so I could accept the place at indi school with specialist provision and get ds back to school.

Indi school have already sent home a referral form to the indi SALT they use. So I am hopeful they will be on the ball. Home tutor tells me she wont be going with ds anymore, but that school will provide help.

Statement is not specified or quantified, due to be reviewed in 6 months, as due to anxiety no assessment could be carried out.

Do I just go along and see what school are suggesting? I doubt CAMHS, SW or home tutor will have anything helpful to offer.

I'd go on trust in the first instance, as at least the school is independent of the usual LA influence over it's day to day running and the funding is agreed.

I'd just listen lots to what the school had to say, and save any queries for a space/time when the carrots aren't in the room Wink. Too many cooks spoil the broth and all that.

I think that, if the school are worth their costs, they will quickly identify what needs to be provided and which needs to be in a statement to secure or maintain funding.

Thanks guys, that is what I thought, just needed a bit of reassurance. This will be my first meeting where ds has had a statement, I dont know if I am expecting something different or magical to happen Grin

CAMHS are only involved as they signed ds off from school, they were supposed to provide a transition plan, but they just nod in agreement with what other professionals suggest and leave it to everyone else.

They are now suppose to come up with a plan to reduce ds's school anxiety, but havent seen ds in about 7 months. They regard it as an educational issue, as do I, so I am happy to leave it to school, rather than CAMHS.

SW isn't even aware of why she is involved and cannot clarify her role. She sits there like a rabbit caught in headlights.

Home tutor could be helpful, as at least she has had regular contact with ds. However seen as she is planning on having no further involvement, its kind of irrelevant.

Oh well, heres to a new start for ds, im quite excited Grin
