Motability grants

Does anyone know much about them? Do they just provide for adaptations or bums on seats?
We applied for one a long time ago for a big car due to having lots of kids. However last time they reluctantly accepted the middle 2 due to being special needs themselves, DD and DS who has the car. So this time round they will only accept DD and DS. The problem is DS needs a row of seats to himself due to behavioural issues and sensory issues but due to his mobility issues can not access the third row and really without something bigger we could be struggling.
Hope this makes sense, TIA x

This may not help but when we applied for our last bus car we had the 2 LO's who both get HRM. Our eldest 3 get LRM.
Motobility visited and not only agreed to 2 wheelchair spaces for the 2 LO's, also tinted windows for eldest DC (epilepsy), plinths for the 2 girls as they are vertically challenged and they felt dangling feet on long journeys was not good.
We were gobsmacked and they only took mobility allowance from one DCShock

I was always told that they would only provide a grant for the minimum/cheapest car that was suitable for your family's needs ie if you had 2 children and one was in a wheelchair, then you only had one seat and a wheelchair space in the back. However, we recently enquired about a grant for DDs car as she is now 18 so would qualify for a grant based on her income rather than ours. We were told that we would get £1000 towards the advance payment on a WAV and it was then up to us which car we put it towards - so not sure if that means they've changed the system.
I would ring Motability Grants department and sound them out TBH. If your DC get mobility allowance due to behavioural issues then this should be taken in to account re seating.

Thanks I will do. Wonder if they would do us a visit? It's hard to get a car for 8 of us but last time round because 2 of the kids were over 18 they wouldn't take them into consideration. I think it's wrong really cos they are still your kids at the end of the day. He gets mobility for his virtually unable to walk not behavioural issues, however he does have extreme challenging behaviour hence why in a 3 rows of seats car he can't get into the boot seats but whoever sits next to him will be attacked. So I wonder if they will take that on board or just look at his mobility. Thanks for the replies though x

Forgot to say our eldest 3 are adults, they were 21,24 and 28 when we had this car.
