One of the threads on here about CFB and DAction just got tweeted. Friend not foe. But just to let you know there are people reading what we say and you may or may not like that.

Self interest I think - look at who the original tweet came from Hmm

I firmly believe that nothing should be said on social media, in an email or on Twitter, that you wouldn't shout across a crowded room which also contains your mother, your children, your bank manager, a policeman and your lawyer. So I'll pull up a chair and ask 'who-ever' to come join the party.

As long as you don't give out enough details to be tracked back to you then it's ok. I think the nhs services as a whole are shit. I think the educational support so far has been shit. There are a few diamonds in that pile of poo but yes it's all crap and I am happy to tell the world and his mum too.

2boysnamedR · 11/07/2013 19:59

And you can quote me on that ;0(

I agree, and can probably be easily identified now. An old boss said to me when I was trying, 'don't put anything in a letter, you wouldn't be happy for the judge to see'. Same kind of principle here.

But for some, it might feel threatening to know we are being 'watched'.

A certain SEN organisation challenged me for my comments on here. I felt uncomfortable to know people were watching out for their own organisations being mentioned

That should be 'when I was training'

But MN is public. A reminder every now and then doesn't hurt.

I think you can feel protected in the MNSN section because it is opt in, but it is still public.

TOWIELA · 11/07/2013 23:03

Once again playing devil's advocate (pls don't shoot me!)...

Putting my techie hat on... You can set up pingbacks (and other techie stuff through google) that will alert you if someone puts a hyperlink to a page on your website. I have it set up on mine - if someone links to my blog, as soon as they publish that link, I get sent an email. So I know immediately if someone has linked to my blog

So it is quite possible that the link added here in MNSN automatically fired a pingback to their website, and that in turn fired off an email to (normally) a techie person their end (or perhaps someone more senior). It would have been all automatic with the human intervention only being the tweet at the end

You have to set this up to happen. It is possible that DA are techie enough to do this but CDC aren't.

TOWIELA · 11/07/2013 23:11

MNSN isn't opt in. I found you all when I was googling the name of my solicitors - and discovered you all!!! Grin

I would also like to add to my "never send an email/tweet/social media statement" i made above... Never write anything you don't want picking up by the google search engine - particularly on MN as these posts often go to the top of google's results pages.

inappropriatelyemployed · 11/07/2013 23:14

Yes I agree Star it is public and that is why I wouldn't say anything here I want kept secret BUT, as a parent, being confronted 'personally' by a 'parent' organisation about something I said here was a little startliing.

what is cdc?

Silly question... why? What is it that gives one party the right to moan about another on an open forum, but the other doesn't have the right to know about it or respond? I have e-mail alerts when certain organisations or phrases show up in the news, or on forums... took me about a minute to set it up...

And frankly, if someone is talking negatively about me I should have the right to respond - you, of anyone should know that, ie

BeeMom · 12/07/2013 14:38

Starlight - not sure about opting in to MNSN... I originally found the forum directly off Google. I searched "special needs forum" and it showed up on the first page. Being in Canada, I had never heard of Mumsnet prior to that, and certainly didn't "opt in".

WilsonFrickett · 14/07/2013 12:15

I think it used to be opt in, but it isn't now. I fou d the board through a google search and I've googled other things since which has thrown up threads. It doesnt appear in any MN shortcut menus, but it's easy to find.

inappropriatelyemployed · 14/07/2013 18:13

" you, of anyone should know that, ie"

Not sure what you mean. And who said I was talking negatively? That is your assumption.

"What is it that gives one party the right to moan about another on an open forum, but the other doesn't have the right to know about it or respond"

Quite - so post OPENLY if you disagree - don't challenge the person PRIVATELY.

Why not join in the debate if you see it so you can engage fully with the concerns?

Not sure why you are so quick to criticize me Beemom???

As Starlight points out,we've always known that this wasn't a private space , and it does no harm to be reminded of it.
It's why I name change often and why most of my friends are on Facebook with the messaging system, privacy options and the like. Not perfect, I know, but more private than here.

inappropriatelyemployed · 14/07/2013 18:50

Yes, obviously, it's not a private space and the intention of my post was to flag exactly that point up not to announce to the world that it is not a private space!
