Applying for a statement, what about EHC next year?

What will be the 'handover' process between statements and EHCs?
Ds' teacher thinks we should apply for a statement, but if it takes a year then the EHC will be introduced- how's this going to work?

(copy and pasted from another thread)

The school can, and should, provide up to £6000 of SEN provision for your child out of their own budget. This link suggests that this equates to around 11.5 hours of TA time per week.

If the school feels that your child is going to need more TA time than this, then they can either ask the LA for additional funds out of the High Needs block without a Statement, or they (or you) can apply for a Statutory Assessment.

Pathfinder authorities are still working on this. Nobody knows yet how any of it is going to work!

Thanks, I couldn't find the info myself but obviously that's because it's not been published yet! I guess we'll just have to apply under the current system and wait and see how the transition is handled.
