Should we take our DD with us on our anniversary weekend?

It'll only be one night away, but 2 days that we won't see her.
We were planning to go to Bath, stay in a nice hotel with a pool, then look at the shops and go on a boating lake.

It would be a nice break for my DH and I, but I know I'd feel very guilty and keep wondering how she is and thinking how much she'd love what ever we were doing.

She has severe learning difficulties and can be quite demanding and loud at times, but is usually a little treasure on holiday. Hmm This would be the first time we've left her.

It'd be either my mum or MIL who looks after her. My mum has very little patience with her, and MIL is always very busy with a house full of students. Both have said they don't mind though.

Would we have to re-think the posh hotel if she came? She does get rather loud when she's happy. Manic laughter, whooping etc.

They will cope. You should go without her. You need a break as well.

There, that's you told! Wink

O.k. I've spoken to my MIL who's said the same thing. She said that she'll be at school for one of the days, then the other day, she'll keep her entertained.
I know she wouldn't enjoy shopping, and the guided tour of the bath spar. We always have to whiz through things when we have her with us, to keep her from protesting loudly!

She loves swimming, but we could take her when we come back.
That's sorted then. Smile

The break will do you good. And dd too.
It'll be nice for her to have 100% of granny to herself.

Go go go go! Your dd will be fine and the time will fly by. Leave your guilt at the front door and have a fantastic time

In our situation, the occasional break is a duty, not a perk.

Go and have a wonderful time. Smile

Thanks every one. Smile It's all booked up and my DD has said she's looking forward to her Mamma holiday. Grin
