Does anyone have experiences with them. Ds had been I guess developing them for over a year. He generally has then monthly, goes grey and absent with lip smacking and garbled mumbling, big sleep and fine (well apart from the 2 generalised seizures). But each time he has a absent seizures over the last months they seem to be increasing in duration, so he will have his sleep then have another one etc this happened on Friday and lasted almost 24h, 18h before that and 9 hours, takes a while before he can function properly again, and seems to enhance his asd, if that makes sense. His on carbamazepine 200mg at day twice. His paed suggest we change I agree.

I do not know if the drugs are meant to stop the seizures or just prevent generalised ones. Rang the consultant today, he away, secretary away, other consultant away. Back end of month. Feeling a bit useless, as don't know what to do really.

I don't, but bumping for you. Hope someone more knowledgeable comes along.

DS2 has had 2 'seizures' in 18 months but they don't think it's epilepsy.

i would also ring back the hospital that your consultant is at and demand to speak to someone, just saying they are away til the end of the month is unacceptable. Speak to the childrens ward if not and ask to speak to on call doctor. Drugs should stop them, they don't always but these do seem to regular to let them carry on. I agree that should he have another one a trip to A & E is probably the right route. good luck

Blush, the typos Shock. Thanks for the replies.

It started with ds having a late lie in, does not eat breakfast (he eats more than me!) and being sick. He stopped being sick and just had bad stomach aches and frontal lobe headaches. Then Feb 2012 he had a generalised seizure and after that the more prescribed type complex partial seizures. I would say it would always happen when he was anxious/tired. Hi zzzz, I have kept a diary since his late lie in and lack of eating, they are still our guaranteed indicators. Although have not noted the duration as hard to judge, but I will go through and in comments in more detail.

But now it seems difficult to put down to anxiety/tiredness as it has been on 5th of the month for the last 3 months now. Yes zzzz, basically fitting, sleeping then fitting again. If he exerts himself it will induce a seizure quickly in this state. I got annoyed when he was in hospital (he stayed overnight once) as when he was sleeping they would check his eyes and move him, his heart rose and he'd have a fit. I do not think he has them in his sleep.

OH says I am going OTT... but it is really worrying me, so yes next time I will go the A&E route.
