Getting rid of TA

Hi all, have been having major problems with dd's 1:1 carer and teacher which finally came to a head last week. Have mtg with Headteacher and dh and I feel the only waxy forward is to get rid of incompetent TA. Has anyone successfully managed to do that? Not an internal transfer but not to renew TA contract at all?

We ended up with DS's TA being moved 'sideways' as she was utterly useless at supporting him. I had raised concerns with the head many times but I think he had hoped she was going to move herself. In the end, there was an incident and I had to approach the head about it and it was agreed she should be moved.

I have to say, by then, it had put him off school entirely and he has been out of school ever since. Sad

:( that's what I am scared about. Dd has spent the day at home today refusing to go in because she is scared what the teacher will say or to her. Incompetent 1:1 is brainwashed by teacher and doesn't stand up fo dd at all. Seems to forget she us there to support the child not the teacher!

I had this. Young NQT didn't know her arse from her elbow. Always reprimanding DS and doing things like telling him to 'look at Mrs X and say sorry'.

DS just had enough of trying to cope without support.

TA was finally moved sideways after an incident which was so serious I had to get the police involved. Prior to that the lies the school told to excuse her were unbelievable. It got VERY personal and spiteful. tbh I wish I'd just pulled him out of school altogether 4 weeks into the autumn term when I had to go in with my first complaint.

It's too late in the year to expect any school to make radical changes now. (Staff minds are all on sports days, year 6 leaving do's and the usual end of term gubbins). A friend with a child in another class has run out of patience and declared an early start to the summer hols - that's always an option I suppose in extremis?

The focus now is sorting out next year's plan. Can you ask demand for a personnel change in September?

Ds was supposed to stay in the class with CT and TA when the half of his year moved up (small village school) but relations broke down so badly (CT refused to talk to us and messages had to be passed by TA or HT) that an emergency review of the Statement was called. It was towards the end of the summer term so no immediate changes were made. .

However, with outsiders (LA) involved and Autism Outreach and Ed Psych etc., DS was moved up to a different class the next year and the CT and TA remained in the other class.

My feeling is that school will try to take the easiest path or whichever suits them best unless they think there might be outside scrutiny.

The governors were not helpful.
