Trying to persuade LA (and failing miserably so far) to put into the statement that adult supervision during playtimes is required. Been told that they don't normally do this - so really wanted to know if anyone has this provision written into their childs statement and, if so, the sort of wording used. I really want this as a large amount of the meltdowns the ds's have at school are triggered by events at breaks.

DS has 1:1 for lunch times written into his statement. It's been completely ignored though this yearSad.

When in mainstream DS had 1 to 1 at break times.
It was written as "DS to have an asd trained support assistant at breaks to help DS with his social skills, this support must be solely their for DS but should know when to intervene and when to show discretion. This person should be known to DS and ideally should be the same person to aid consistency and reduce anxiety"

DS is about to start getting lunchtime cover (he's only gone half days until now) and this is being written into his statement. His usual 1:1 is from an ABA provider and the lunchtime 1:1 will be employed by school but trained by ABA so we will get the lunchtime hours plus some training time. We have not yet got the final statement yet but it was in the proposed so should get it. His ABA 1:1 works through breaks as part of his ABA hours so breaks have never been an issue.

They can put that your child has access to support from a teaching assistant or a lunchtime supervisor, this is how I got round it for my son. I said I'm not happy for him to be supported by a lunchtime supervisor, they changed it to trained lunchtime supervisor, that is the best wording I could get, then I spoke to school because its ultimately up to them who supports at break/lunch. The school understands and is employing 2members of staff to support my son, one for morning, one for afternoon and they have put it in the job vacancy that the person must be supporting my son at break/lunchtime. That's how I've gotten round it.

Thanks for the replies. Will try again to get it put in using some of the wordings suggested.
