Proprioceptive Sensory Advice needed

Hi All,

I wondered if someone would know where I could find an all in one sleepsuit with feet for my nearly 5 year old? He needs something as is finding it very difficult to sleep, everywhere I find they cost about £50!

Also weighted blankets. Would anyone recommend a particular supplier?

Many Thanks

We got our weighted blanket from sensory direct - they were very helpful. Also do sensory clothing.

You can get cheap onesies from places like Asda for about £6 and then perhaps you could sew socks on the bottom of the legs? Onesies with feet tend to be in a fleece material so may be too warm for summer.

As for weighted blankets I think there was a post a few days ago with a link to making your own. Or have you tried your NHS OT dept to see if they can help?

We got fluffy onsies from Primark. Next do more cottony ones, but are a bit pricier, and still quite warm for summer.

primark did some. not sure if they will hve them in in summer. www.ebay.co.uk/sch/sis.html?_kw=Primark+Kids+Girls+Boys+Fleece+All+In+One+Pyjamas+Sleepsuit+Onesie+PJ

I made my own weighted blanket, got poly pellets from eBay for £15- enough to make a blanket and plenty left over for lap pad and toys. It is very simple sewing if you have a machine, just time consuming weighing out the pellets. I used an old duvet cover so it the only cost was the poly pellets.

Brilliant advice thank you. Unfortunately our NHS OT recommended these things but is unable to help further due to budget.

Maybe we'll start with a weighted blanket and add an all in one in the winter.

Thanks again

Quite often you can get character sleep suits for older kids...my ds2 has a gruffalo one for age 5-6.

There are cheap and thin for summer onesies in B&M at the moment.

Instead of poly pellets bake some black eyed peas or kidney beans much more allergenic friendly.

We always put our DS on trampoline before bedtime. Wear him out and get that sensory input he needs.

Good luck with it.
