Just tried to reply to a couple of tweets and it won't let me. From a particular organisation.

Could they have blocked me?

Yes, Star :)

ouryve · 26/06/2013 23:28

Yes. There's some twitter apps that do all sorts of specific blocking and stuff.

ouryve · 26/06/2013 23:35

babiki - initials work fine. I'm @ouryve with yve s as my name. Some other people I know are far more cryptic than that.

Some SN groups are on LinkedIn, notably SN Jungle, so it may be worth getting through to them that way.

inappropriatelyemployed · 27/06/2013 19:19

SN JUngle have really not wanted to know. Not retweeted anything and I have emailed them directly.

I'm in the SNJ LinkedIn group - they accept anyone Grin. All you have to do is be on LinkedIn and ask to join.

Once a member, you can start topics or contribute to others.

Do feel free to spread the word for me! Til I get round to it.

What are you not getting? Can I help? Still learning myself but will try Grin

Do people have conversations, or just post up to 6 random words that no-one can understand and hope that someone somewhere reads them?

inappropriatelyemployed · 01/07/2013 22:29

Bit of both! People are sometimes having conversations with someone else and if you are following them you just get their bit of conversation - I think!

Have followed (?) you IE and some others and got some followers - how? - but really am trying to work out how to retweet, make comments, suggest you, etc.

Is there a thread somewhere on how to do this twitter stuff?

TOWIELA · 02/07/2013 23:17

You can have some quite coherent conversations on twitter. If someone is having a conversation with someone else, then you can see their conversation by clicking the 'View Conversation' option (Windows desktop pc) or clicking on the tweet (iPhone 5)

For some bizarre reason, abbreviations and "text speak" isn't the done thing on twitter so when you are tweeting a conversation, you have to use real complete words.

inappropriatelyemployed · 02/07/2013 23:31

After a tweet, you can see a series of buttons, reply, retweet etc. if you want to retweet a tweet, you just press retweet and it goes to your followers.

If you want other people to retweet the tweet, you can add RT. That is an acceptable abbreviation that everyone uses.

I condense words sometimes - use yr rather than your etc. I see others do it. I wouldn't worry too much about that. I'm not one for rules much!!

If you see posts you like, you can follow them. I have followed you, I think.

You can tweet at interesting tweeters using their @name and you can ask them to RT which can be helpful if they have lots of followers.
