Exercises for dyspraxia and/or hypermobility?

I just heard a blood curdling scream from my son outside again. Again he'd fallen over and again there's barely any skin left ln his kness and his elbow looks horrific Sad.

He wasnt even running or scooting this time, he was just 'walking up the curb' and he slipped.

It happens every time he is out, it seems to be worse than last year.

Ive just bought him some elbow and knee pads, his physio is a waiting list of at least 6 months.

I bought a book that supposedly had exercises for dysraxia 'Beating Dyspraxia with a Hop Skip and Jump'
But it had 4 exercises in and that was it Hmm.

So please, can anyone tell me about a book, website, app, forum, ANYTHING at all so I can help my son get physically stronger?

He does swimming and football too, but he's been doing those for a long time and his balance doesnt seem to have improved at all. Or his general bendyness.

DS has been doing judo and swimming for over a year now. They have really helped him improve his core strength which has helped with his balance. We've found also that having a step to place his feet on means that sitting in a chair doesn't tire him too much (silly as it sounds!).

We also do a lot of "dancing" in the kitchen where I can get him to focus on how his body moves and am close enough to sweep him up if he wobbles!

How old is he ? Skipping , scooter, balance beams , climbing, wobbleboard, tennis (swing ball to start) ?

Also, try to make it about fun not about his dyspraxia iykwim! DS gets stressed if he thinks we are working on his dyspraxia but a competition to see who can stand on one foot the longest to win a piece of Haribo always goes down well (especially if I somehow wobble over first Wink)

Our physio said that horse riding (expensive) is a really good way to work on core strength and balance. She also said swimming is good for overall strength, but being active in any sport which is enjoyed should help.

Shocked the physio wait is 6 months in your area!

I was going to say horse riding - has really really helped with DS core stability.
Brain gym exercises - like cross crawl - DS had to start this lying on the floor on his back, then progressed to doing it standing upWink
Some good you tube video's of brain gym sequences that you can do, but if anything like DS, need to start them slowly without the video and then progress to following along......
Trapeze - swinging on it, holding on by hands.
Trampoline

we had to wait a year for physio,

try one of those exercise balls from tesco. they sit on it and the wiobblyness helps their coe strrength.

sit astride the swings sidewys at the park and let go wth hands. keep feet on the floor otherise everything will be on the floor.

wheel barrow races

kneeling on hands and knees and doing an activity with one hand, then the other

lying on front, propped up on elbows, doing activities

wobble cushion

row, row row the boat with child standing.
