High Needs SEN

In schools what is class as high needs SEN? I have been having a look around and this keeps cropping up but not sure how this is worked out....just curious really.

IME, 'High needs' refers to 'not your child', whoever your child might be and whatever their needs are.

Roughly speaking it is a child with a statement. The variability of children with statements is astounding however.

Smile starlight, sooo the child has to have a statement to be classed as high needs....when high needs would of already been evident BEFORE they were given a statement Confused.

I think high needs is supposed to mean a DC whose needs cannot be met by the school's first £6,000 extra that they have to pay from their own budget, nowadays. So it would generally mean a DC with a statement as £6000 would pay for 12 to 15 hours 1:1.
