Hello MNers! We are currently looking for an Educational Psychologist. We live in East London and need an assessment done. Do any of you have any experience with these or have one you might recommend - to use or to avoid? Advice would be GREATLY appreciated. TIA

Dr Lindsay Peer is good - she also specialises in dyslexia. PM me other names as there is one I'd avoid (I see many E.P. reports as a dyslexia assessor and there's one who cuts and pastes). I'd not name them here, though.
May be useful for you to briefly describe/ speculate the types of difficulties your DC difficulties has as some E.P.s work more closely in certain areas.

Hmmm sorry I can't really advise. I'm a dyslexia assessor and haven't seen many reports by Ed. Psychs. working in that area. Most decent E.P.s should be able to assess and advise though. They'd all incorporate an IQ test into their battery of assessments and have a good 'look' at traits that could be found on a continuum / make appropriate recommendations for school and for home.

I can recommend Mike Davis Consultant Educational and Neuropsychologist he is excellent. My DD has aspergers and he came to our house in Sussex to do her assessment, it was very thorough and lasted a very full day, came to SENDIST as expert witness.

Thanks for suggestions so far but still looking. Have come across Timothy Francis in Hoxton - has anyone got any experience of him?
Still very open to other suggestions. Please!
