We are moving back to the uk and have a son who will soon be secondary school age who has mild aspergers and ADHD. He has done very well in the US state school system with additional help in focussing in class and in the playground making friends. Does anyone have any experience I what state secondary schools in Sussex and Brighton are known as being ADHD/aspergers friendly? Any advice welcome!

Try Warden Park School in Cuckfield.

Thanks Merlincat - Would we get in though if we're not catholic?

Do you know if its hard to get into Warden Park? I've just looked at the criteria and unless I get a statement (unlikely) or get professionals to make "compelling social and medical reasons" why he must attend this school, it looks like I'd have no chance of getting it without a sibling link?

Just got our copy of 'summer fun' mag and there is a page for the Family Information Service (Brighton and Hove). It says they give advice and are totally impartial and separate from the School Admissions Team. They can help with Special Needs policy and provision and the service is 'for anyone who feels they need extra help, perhaps you have recently moved to the city or are new to the UK'. Anyway, seems like it might be worth having a chat to them.
