Whoohoo I could not have done it without you. Thank-you so much.

It's been a rollercoaster and I know nothing is finished until I have a Statement in my hand. I will have to cancel Tribunal until our next LA disagreement but hopefully it will be much easier now.

Costs so far £600 on OT, £750 on SALT and £1500 on EP but I think it will be money well spent as we know so much more and will be put to good use for Statementing purposes and will end up with a good one hopefully. It's cost us our family holiday but worth it.

I feel bad for the vulnerable because I could have given up so easily so many times.

I recommend anybody just do it!

Well done Smile

Well done you! But what an absolute disgrace that it cost you nearly £3000. It is not only vulnerability that stops people fighting on, it is this sort of sum.

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/06/2013 17:10

Well done hildy. SO proud of you. Know you're fighting one of the worst. You're very brave and should be absolutely proud of yourself.

Sorry about the disgraceful loss of funds which now cannot be used directly for your ds and family. You shouldn't have to pay that kind of money but I see it as money spent now to get appropriate provision will save serious amounts later in broken windows, fines and police bail iyswim.

WTF changed that meant they gave in?

lougle · 04/06/2013 17:14

Wow, seriously well done. I admit I never thought I'd see the day that your DS got his SA - they were fighting tooth and nail.

Wine for you.

babiki · 04/06/2013 18:14

Wow great!! We are not so lucky yet, LEA prefers to put us through bloody review and Upper Tribunal..

rosielou678 · 04/06/2013 18:18

So glad for you. Take a breather over the next few months to recover your strength so that you're ready & strong for the next fight (if you have to appeal the eventual Statement).

Handywoman · 04/06/2013 18:31

That is quite amazing news! Delighted for you!

Wine
RippingYarns · 04/06/2013 18:41

Brilliant news - nearly Wineo'clock! Celebrate.

CheeseToasty · 04/06/2013 19:15

That's fantastic. Well done. I really hope it all goes well and you get everything you want without anymore of a fight. x

marchduck · 04/06/2013 21:24

brilliant hildy - your DS is lucky to have you on his side!

bjkmummy · 04/06/2013 21:53

Fantastic news!

claw2 · 04/06/2013 22:33

Well done, its always so nice to read about success Smile

SA appeal cost me over £10,000 2nd time around, which is a bloody disgrace.

2006hildy · 05/06/2013 09:56

I could not have done it without you. Thank-you so much.

What do I do now to prepare?

I have read the Mumsnet SEN statutory assessment: the statmenting process and timeline article.

Is it just a case of waiting and submitting paperwork?

I am SO pleased for you but you know what? I knew you were going to get to this stage as you were SO determined. I also know you will get exactly what you want for your child.

And WELL DONE on the money front - you did not spend a huge amount of money so far ... I wasted £5K alone on solicitor's fees at the 'refusal to assess' stage. Had I known of this site then, I did not need to have instructed a solicitor at all.

Good for you 2006hildy.

rosielou678 · 05/06/2013 19:54

hildy - IF you have to appeal the eventual Statement (and hopefully you won't have to), I have been told that there should be no surprises from the parents at the Tribunal. With that in mind, for my parental views, I gave them chapter and verse of everything. The LA had sent a short Parental Views questionnaire (about 3 pages) to be completed. However, I turned that into a 10 page typewritten report - using the LAs questionnaire as a framework to draft my report.

I kept it very very factual and unemotional, and pointed various parts of it back to specific paragraphs in the indie reports. I was absolutely determined that my voice would be heard and that everything was written down. My 'Parental Views' is now part of his Statement (as an appendix) - so it has been clearly documented and captured. (Not that anyone ever reads a Statement's appendices, but that, as they say, is another story in the fight for my DC which can wait for another day)

2006hildy · 07/06/2013 19:43

To prepare for the Statement I have been advised, the charity ACE on their website have a document you can download called:

"Getting The Statement Right"

Has anybody else got any other idiot guides for this stage?

Parental Views- yes very important I shall do the same

Hope this helps somebody else.
