Tinsley house clinic and tourettes OCD

Hi, I'm a newbie, I hope I am posting in the right place! I have read several threads about this clinic but can't find any posts about this in relation to tourettes and ocd. I have just read robin paucs books and am considering this route for my son. My 7year old has tourettes, adhd and ocd. We have been following a strict diet and supplementing with vegepa fish oils and various other vitamins / supplements for about a year now and have seen amazing results with regards to the adhd. However, it has had no impact on his tics. Anyone out there seen an improvement in tourettes symptoms by going down the Tinsley house route? Thanks in advance.

DS had bad tics last October. We went in November for the first time. His tics are so quiet now I don't think we would get a Tourette's diagnosis which is what we definitely were looking at last year.

Is that down to TH? Who knows? We are going to continue it and are just grateful to have a break to the heartbreaking sight of your child ticcing violently.

Pm me if you want more details
X

Thanks thats great. My son hasn't been tic free for 5 years since his very first blinking tic. They had gone very minimal since Christmas and we're hardly noticeable and have blown up again 2 weeks ago. :-( I'm so worried about him getting teased at school.

Tics can just come and go of their own accord.
DS2 has TS and we have been told that if his tics get really bad again then we can see the neurologist again to sort out treatment (medication), but it is always a really long wait, but actually that is good as often the tics subside on their own, so he wouldn't need the medicine anyway.

Hi mrsbaffled, yeah they do come and go and I don't fancy the medication route, we have already declined the prescription for the ADHD and are doing really well with diet and supplements (apart from those damn tics!) just wish they would go away and stay away!

I know how you feel x
DS is in a lull too at the moment. Ironically he was mild when we got the dx. I didn't notice him tic at all in the appt with the neurologist, but on the dx letter he noted down loads of tics he had seen, but I had missed!
I think school are a bit Hmm about the dx, but TS is a funny thing and I am sure the tics will re-emerge full-on soon.
I don't ever want to medicate either, but it is possible he may need therapy for his co-morbid OCD. My dad has TS too, and he never received any help and has done OK.

I don't know if you will have seen these videos:
USA TS conference videos

They were really helpful to me x It discusses behaviour issues and how to deal with certain tics.

no I hadn't seen these, thanks they are really helpful. :-)
