The school nurse has referred ds as she thought it might hecquicjwrvthan trying to get a GP referral to a consultant or an Ed psych to eventusllt get a reffersl to the ASD unit. Sure enough a letter has come through asking me to make an appointment

Will I have to make it in school time and take ds out of school. Will they want to see us together/alone? The school nurse said they deal with parenting problems and although she doesn't think we or ds have patenting issues it was worth a shot.

Sil went to CAMHS but it was to help herceithbissues she had with dneice who has a diagnosis not if ASD but sil wasn't coping with and had parenting issues so a lot different to us.

So far ds only knows that the nurse took his height and weight and had a chat about Minecraft. He is 9. What do we tell him. Do we tell him we think he has a condition?

Tbh when my children went through the first stages of their Camhs appointments, I was honest and said that some children have these kind of check-ups if they struggle with certain things - then I named a few of their difficulties - I explained that we'd talk about the good things they do but also about some of the difficulties we have as a family.

I'm not saying they accepted them but if your DS is 9, then he may not accept a made up story.

They just went through the children's ways from pregnancy and birth to how they are now. I was prepared and made s list. I even started a little diary of behaviours and what happened just before and how I dealt with it.
