I wondered if there were any particular health issues or illnesses common to aspie girls?
We have an appointment with an orthopaedic consultant at the end of July regarding dc's gait, hip and back pain.
DH is frightening himself silly by googling every heinous spine disease going, but I am wondering how much connection (if any) there could be between her physical issues and her general aspies anxiety and sensory problems.

Children who have been diagnosed on the spectrum tend to have a higher incidence of hypermobility. Those with sensory issues may have a heightened or reduced response to pain. Anxiety can definitely exacerbate pain.

Back and hip pain in children isn't terribly common, except from those who are hypermobile... when it is exceptionally common.

I hope the consultant can shed light on the issue... and tell your DH that Dr. Google doesn't even hold an MD, so not to waste the energy.

She's just turned 11.
Shocking posture, toe walks and walks like she's kinked in the middle and lop sided. She has a rounded lower back and flat upper back.
GP said today that her hips seem very high up. She saw a physio this week who has mentioned Perthe's disease?
Her pain is in her lower back and hips as well as hamstrings. The appointment isn't until the end of July so in the mean time we are continuing with the exercises the physio has given her.
We are hoping to get the written assessment from the OT next week which will hopefully give more details on her proprioception issues and anything else she has found.

My Ds AS complains of pains in his ankles, hips, and back. He was checked over by the peadiatrician but she couldn't see any issues with hypermobility. I think I will be watching this thread with interest Smile
