Hello all

My daughter has very recently started taking an interest in the ipad (beyond listening to the same 3-4 songs on it). The kind of apps I think I can get her interested in are where she presses something and it then makes a sound. I have seen many apps online but cant find something as simple as that. Even the piano/drums kinds are very distracting.

I am hoping to graduate to sound matching once she understands that she needs to tap at an appropriate spot on the screen to get the desired result. As of now all she understands is that she needs to drag her finger to get some results.

Any apps to suggest?

Thanks
SA

Barnyard By Kevin Bradford. Free for Tap Farm and Colors&Shapes. Upgrade to access other games. Tap Farm sounds like the sort of thing you want, tap the object and it makes a sound and/or has animation.

TP-Shapes (free) - once more advanced, drag shapes.
Grolly (free version has animals in Asia), touch animals to make sound. Find Grolly to get the little girl back to bed.

Happy Babies: Ladybird Baby Touch - this is a paid for app but can touch the screen anywhere to get the next part of the picture to move on. Has some music with it and some words but was much loved by DD3 (NT) when smaller.

AlphaBaby - you can touch to make the sounds of numbers, shapes, letters but also 'flick' them and they bounce around and 'pinch' them to change size. I can't remember if it is the free or the paid for version but you can add your own images like photos, and sounds (you record your voice saying the words). We did it with ds with pictures of mummy, daddy, biscuit etc.

DS2 loves agnitus and nighty night. Both very simple controls (though agnitus has some games which require more input, but these are avoided by DS2!). I had to buy him extra animals for nighty night because the same few were driving me nuts!

Dd had the Happy Babies Ladybird one too. It has music but its a very soothing tune. She also loved the "Toddler Touch and Say First Words" also a Ladybird one.
If you go to the App Store and type ladybird in the search function it comes up with a few options.
Dd also really liked Monster Chorus.
Now it's youtube for cartoons Hmm and a very annoying Pocoyo app.

Hi Salondon

My little boy loved peekaboo barn (free for the lite version and about £1.50 for full thing). An animated barn door moves slightly and you can hear an animal behind it. When you tap on the barn door it opens so you can see the animal - it makes its sound louder then a child's voice says what it is ("pig" etc). When the cycle finishes you hear all the animals snoring behind the door and when you open it up you see them all sleeping.

All rather cute - kept DS happy for months!
