I have finally got round to get a blog together.

I am not trying to give advice on it but pull together useful factual info.

What are your 'top tips' - practical things like you have a right to be present at any assessment of your child?

My child was 'expelled' from a montessori nursery when he was 3 years old. He was not allowed back. I had another young toddler so my brain was frazzled. I had no idea what my rights were back then ...

I don't know under which heading you can put this?! But I can't be the only one this has happened to; fast forward 6 years and he has recently been diagnosed ASD.

I guess this is much more 'advice' but couldn't resist.

Remember that many so-called professionals (especially in education) will focus on the child, as in 'ah bless....'. I suppose they have that luxury.

I have always tried to have in mind the adult my son will become, and what will give him the very best chances when he's grown up, as he'll be an adult a helluva lot longer than he'll be a child

Thanks. I think what I could do is put a section on things like exclusion and school refusal setting out the facts.

I could also do a 'parents' stories' so people could write anonymised, very brief stories about what they found helped and what they wished they'd known etc.
