Tax credits and DLA

Hi does anyone know if we would qualify for tax credits. Our son gets middle rate care and low rate mobility. I get carers allowance, I don't work at the mo. We don't get any tax credits at all as hubs salary is over the threshold for tax credits, but not sure if the rules are different with DLA? It's so confusing looking at the website!

The rules are the same, but there's more to be knocked off with the disabled child component in place before it dwindles to nothing. We wouldn't qualify if we didn't have the two boys entitled to the disabled child component of tax credits, but as it is, we get an amount that's not to be sniffed at.

You carer's allowance would count towards the total taxable income, but it's still worth checking.

The 'disabled child' element of Tax Credits is £3015 this year.

The fact that you now get Carer's Allowance (£3039 per year) will reduce your Tax Credits by £1245.99.

That leaves £1769 which may or may not be reduced by your income.

www.turn2us.org.uk is excellent.
