So ds has woken up with his eyes glued shut, raging red and gunky, he's also coughing badly and generally very gakky, snot everywhere. I called the dr, and spoke to a triage nurse, who i have never spoken to before, she was bloody awful. All i want is for some antibiotic eye drops (which she said they don't usually do, until I pointed out that last time ds had an eye infection it lasted for 9 months), and for someone to listen to the lower part of his lungs, which she said someone could do on Thurs....great. Ds has a redflag on his notes to indicate that he has recurring lung problems, and that any signs of infection be treated aggressively. Anyway, I phoned back and asked for a dr to call, and he is going to be seen at lunchtime.

On the upside, it gets us out of going to the Meet The Parents thing at ds's prospective preschool - which i was dreading.

Oh and on the upside of the upside, the senco has just called to say that ds has been awarded the highest level of funding available, for when he starts! (which is great, if slightly depressing).

Poor mini hazey. I hope he recovers soon. Good news about the funding. I get what you mean about the 'depressing' comment, but at least the support will be in place from the beginning, so no need to fight or battle for anything.

Thanks Toots, even more frustrating, the nurse this morning told me that ds's usual gp wasn't in today, and wouldn't be able to see him until next Friday. We were just getting ready to go to appointment with duty dr, when our gp phoned to say she would squeeze him in at the end of her surgery - so she was in today! She is going to have a listen to his chest, as she knows where the bad bits are and is used to all his usual squeaks and grunts.

Poor ds, having to bathe his eyes every hour, they are so glued up.

Glad I missed the 'meet the parents' thing, a friend who also has a ds with sn, who is starting at the same time, said it was a bit grim. I could do without that at the moment.

Our lovely gp has asked us to come in at the end of surgery for the next few days, so she can keep an eye on ds's chest.
