who managed to get LEA home tuition then went to tribunal for an education placement more suitable...........daft question.........was it easy? did they take on board the complexities of the anxiety and reasons why the child was unable to attend school?

We got a medical school placement for like 2 hours day as that is the nearest thing they have here to home tuition a few years ago - things have changed again here since then and our Camhs have their own school with therapy sessions as well as the basic lessons thrown in now. You shouldn't have to go to tribunal but do need the backing and support of professionals such as Camhs in our area at least? Hope you get it sorted x

My son went part time then refused completely about 2 months ago. To date no offer at all of home tuition. Did go to tribunal though and won an independent place. Think part of the reason we won was that he had been part time for so long and the fact there was no extra support put in for him.

On the morning of the tribunal the first question they asked was what education he was having and the answer was none. I actually believe now th e complete lack of any tuition actually helped us more

Thanks.

CAMHS here don't accept kids with SLD so not under them. The school best suited is independant but realize I won't get it without a fight. DS has been out of school 3 year, on to our 2nd home tutor and now looking for a 3rd. He only gets 11 hours per week soon to be 15. He was in SS but they can't meet his needs. So we have been to 5 neighbouring authorities and no one will accept him. So hoping it puts us in a better position to ask for inde.

I think based on the Q asked at tribunal I can still answer none as he refuses to work with them. Plus it's not helpful as he has shrunk his world to what is managable to him, ie the house and car. So really needs a certain education to help bring him back out of it if that makes sense.

Thanks again x

Hi Dev, I wish I had some answers or you, I think you're situation is one we may face too.... Lots of hugs to you both X

aw thanks Walter, can I ask then what do you think you will do?

PC ENC has advised this school for DS he feels done right it will work and help his shrunken world, plus he says it's now or never so know I have to do it for all of us really. Looking at it logically and done empathetically I can see how it could work.

We didn't have to go to tribunal amazingly
We prepared our case really carefully though. We put forward the case that ds's needs could only be met by this particular school. We visited the school, researched it with their online info etc.
hope it works out for you dev
