I have heard absolutely nothing from the LA - complete and utter silence. I spoke to the head of the school we won a place to last week and she said that the school would be in touch to sort out transition. Heard nothing further from them so just gave them a quick ring to be told the head of the part of the school my son going to is off sick at the moment.

Half of me just wants to try and get him back into school. He has had no education whatsoever for 8 weeks now and whilst I know we will need to do it slowly and the transition from the school is going to be very thorough i just want to start getting some dates organised etc but I know it can't be helped if the teacher is sick at the moment.

Also I think I'm slightly anxious as my dh is playing the doom and gloom card. He's convinced that the LA are going to leave it and then on the last possible day appeal. I keep telling him unlikely they will or can but he's now making me worry as well!!!!!! I don't know whether to be shocked or surprised by the apparent wall of silence from the LA. not sure really what I was expecting!

Hopefully it's just sour grapes from the LA and just coincidence the HT is off sick. Sounds really frustrating, though. Sorry I can't be of any help.

The LA will be in shock at having lost so the big wigs put up a wall of silence so they can lick their wounds in private ( a privililedge never granted to a mere Mum btw). They'll need copious cups of tea and shared mutterings round the biscuit tin about pushy parents etc, etc.

Elsewhere behind the scenes in the deepest caverns of the "system" someone, somewhere will be frantically trying to put stuff together for your child. This person will be one of the hardest working and lowest paid members of staff and you'll never even know her name Wink

A call to the school SENCO might be appropriate on Monday morning as the HT is off sick, if only to say "Hi". What you don't want is a month of total silence followed by a call at 6pm one day saying they expect your child in school the following morning.

It often takes some time tbh. I had to wait several weeks in fact i think it was nearly four weeks if not more before ds started at his independent school following tribunal. There is lots of paperwork to do, transport had to be arranged which involved putting contract out to tender and then new school wanted to arrange start date after staff had discussed where to put ds and who was going to be TA for him etc etc. I was very frustrated by it but it does seem to take a long time and I think I was the only one who wanted it to be done quickly.

School have phoned and its all sorted. The school ironically are getting hassled from the LA about getting him back into school which is quite ironic as for the last 9 months they couldn't have cared less and he has had no education whatsoever for 8 weeks but I'm guessing they now have finally realised he needs an education. The transition will be very slow and building up his trust etc. they are coming to the house next week to meet him and we will take it from there. I am in no real rush to get him back into school, I am more concerned that it is done correctly and right.

That's really positive, bjk. Let's hope the transition goes really smoothly. Smile

Well the LA finally called. They could not have been nicer. It was the woman who pushed us into tribunal in the first place and refused to talk to us at all and literally would hiss at us in meetings. Now she can't seem to do enough for us and wants us to have chats etc as the transition period starts. Cannot believe the absolute change around in their attitude. The have issued the finalised statement post tribunal today so will get it tomorrow. They have faxed a copy to our school.

I think I have been temporarily taken in by the niceness of it all as I was gunning to put in a huge complaint but now sat here thinking whether I should as she was so blinking nice - sure that moment will soon pass as they put us through hell and it's a clear cut case of maladministration so they are now doing damage limitation unless I am just not just too cynical after all we have been through.
