Weighted blankets....?

DS often struggles to get to sleep. Once asleep he sleeps well but he is often awake late and he looks tired and worn out. Whe he is tired he is crotchety and cross and his ASD symptoms and behaviours are much more marked.

We have noticed that he likes to cocoon himself in his duvet and that he presses himself into the far corner of his bed - this has resulted in a distorted matress! He will also drop off far easier if DH or I lie next to him with our arms across his body. DH is happy to lie with him but the huge snag to this is that DH often falls asleep too!!

I was wondering if a weighted blanket might be an option? Does anyone have any experiences to share? Thanks.

Our weighted blanket was worth every penny. It has really helped dd calm down.

DD1 sleeps with hers every night. I made her first one, it cost me £20 altogether. Her second one came via OT and cost over £120, but the construction is exactly the same as the one I made!

Just been googling!

I don't think I have time to make one so I will have to buy.

DH and I think it might be worth a go.....

Might also look at lap pads as he is a wriggle monster when sitting down.
