Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

3 x SPLD and no concessions in SAT's, not on SENS register/feel depressed.

My child has been diagnosed by EP, as Working memory in 13th percentile,
writing speed right down ie. 3rd quartile can't remember percentile, and processing speed 4th percentile. EP says should be on action plus. I need him on the SENS register before Secondary and his needs recognised. Kind, caring school and feel comfortable to challenge, but worn out.

do school have a copy of the EP report?

Had school EP assessment in year 5, which identified 1st SPLD for working memory (which I had already diagnosed for her by the way). I asked her to check his processing speed, which she didn't. I then went private to get 2nd SPLD (processing) and hand-writing speed (3rd SPLD) identified. School have had copy of report tday. Seems to be of no consequence re. concessions in SAT's. I am shocked frankly. Ind EP says extra time and scribe. Trouble is I don't know the policy to challenge. I had heard that if external EP comes in, should be on Action +. Sorry have cross threaded with you on another one, loosing my marbles. I think he needs to do touch-typing, spellings as they are below average and a maths intervention. For WM jungle memory, which has had mixed reviews by parents on here. To be honest-you could argue, most of it is class-room intervention. Later we can look at dictation I guess.

Okay. Aside from the findings, what effect do they hbave on him? Would it be easier to approach school from that angle? Each school maintains an sen register - its not one central one. If the current school don't identify him as sen, make an appointment with the secondary senco at the receiving school and talk about your concerns with him or her and how they will be identified, met, etc before he starts.
