Hi I wonder if anyone can help or been in this situation. Basically my son who is 3 and a half just had a physio appointment as son walks on toes all the time, I took him along and the physio said that its a sensory issue? My son has always had little quirks and his nursery teacher has picked up on some things that he is doing. My son is really really bright, his speech has been amazing from 18 months, he has a real interest in numbers and can read numbers every where number plates etc. he is sociable with adults and is very loving towards me and his sisters and other adults but tends to play on his own at nursery. Physio said he is full of energy and gets himself over excited. He barely sleeps no matter what I try. Nursery said he won't do messy play or pe and will not remove his jumper for pe or wear a pe kit and is constantly washing his hands. At home he likes things done a certain way and will not wear new clothes and will not do anything he doesn't want to do, lots of quirks too many to list lol. Should I be worried? Anyone know what they are trying to look at? I've looked up autism etc but he is so happy and loving and hv says kids with autism aren't very social? Physio have referred him to orthoptics for his feet and occupational health therapists and a paediatrician. I'm so worried as I want him to use his brightness to the best of his ability and not be labelled as just a hyperactive child many thanks in advance x

DS, also has sensory issues alongside Dyspraxia - sounds very similar to your DS at 3 1/2 with regards to getting overexcited.
Sensory issues is a huge field and if I was you, I would be wanting to get him to a specialist trained OT - I am not sure if you can get referred to a specialist OT on the NHS - we did it privately. I think what you would want is someone qualified to do the SIPT test.
The therapy has been magic for my son and I don't say that lightly.
WE go to Hopschotch childrens therapy - google them as there website has lots of info on it, which is very easy to digest IYKWIM.
DS has has sleep issues, they have resolved now that he is "modulated"
