We have to write a report for our daughter's annual review and don't know what to say.
She has severe delay and can't talk, but hasn't got autism. She is 7 and at a mainstream school that is absolutely lovely with a one-on-one full-time.
The school is v nice but has suggested that they're concerned she's not fulfilling her potential and think she might do better at a special school.
She is not being chucked out - far from it, they are happy to keep her all the way, and we get on very well with them. But they say she is bright UNDERNEATH (she is, actually, very sharp!) and needs more specialist help than they can give.
We have booked in to look at a few special schools around here but aren't sure if that is the answer for her. When we looked for a primary for her I had a really good look around and couldn't see one I liked.
I am open-minded and there are a few out of borough schools we might look at that I haven't seen yet. Plus a couple of private ones (also a way away) that we might look at - we would have to fight for funding if we went for this as we can't afford private ourselves.
These school visits are all (helpfully) booked for AFTER our annual review. If they look great, then perhaps we would like her to go to them. If they don't, we want her to stay in mainstream.
Therefore can anyone advise on what on EARTH we say in our report that is due in on Monday morning?
When we don't know what to say as we don't know what we want?
Thanks v much if any of you can help.
