After being to a private ped for a diagnosis, who did not give one to dd.....the NHS today gave it to me. The only regret is of the money spent on the private ped and she had trained my current NHS doc. council turned me down for a SA but I have better stuff now to deal with them.... :-)))

Shame about the wasted time and money on the private paed. How are you doing? You sound very positive and upbeat. Smile

hi ellen.....yes i am v v positive and strong! my focus is completely on helping dd....i am past the stage of crying and feeling sad. until i am focused and strong...no one can help dd. and have got a lot of support in place now. hv also been thinking a bit now abt how the world percieves asd. it seems to me...at the rate at which asd is growing, by the time our kids come of age, there will be so many people on spectrum that it will be quite generally acceptable. well...people do have to live and my focus right now is totally on maximising dd potential.

Not a waste of money. Reconsidering the old boss's diagnosis is a big privilege/ challenge. You got 110% attention, experience and concentrated thinking from the NHS doctor.

Which is just as well: with pre-school girls, doctors doing their 'ordinary' best usually just isn't good enough.
