Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

So what do I need to know/do to prepare for annual review?

This will be the first AR.
I am a complete novice at this.
I have been sent a form with a date and for my comments.
If I can't make it do they have to change the date? ( it is very short notice for me)
I seem to remember reading advice about the fact that others have to send their comments too.
What do I do about the fact that school are still not providing some of the stuff in the statement. I am concerned that they may use it as an excuse to try to take it out since they haven't bothered to do it with the view that "DS is fine without it" - which I disagree with.

You should have had any reports 10 days prior to the AR. Your comments also should be circulated 10 days prior. They can't hold the review without you.

OK. It is more that 10 days notice (about 20) for the review, but I have just started a new job and it will be difficult to take the time off. Also they send the letter to arrive on the first day of half term! Typical so I assume that that means the school won't be doing much this week about it.

So that means I should have everyone else's report in about 10 days time?

Check that advice is still the same for professionals/EP/OT/SaLT ect and yourselves. If everything is the same then there is no need for the statement to be changed. If there is a change to any advices included yours then the statement needs changing. If anything/therapy/aid is not being provided by school and should have been check out the IPSEA website as they have advice about his.

If they try to take away anything, you need to ask them for the evidence of significant progress to the extent that intervention is no longer needed. This means the intervention that didn't happened can't be taken away, because there will by default be no records of improvements attributed to it.

Thanks,
I have been chasing the LEA whose duty it is to make sure that provision is as per the statement after lots of false promises by the school after the last time I chased the LEA.
I have just had OT report after visit and it really helps me prove that that provision at least must stay. I am not sure that this is her comments for the AR, but it is very timely and good from my POV.
I haven't heard anything from anyone else though.
Starllight - Thanks for that advice about significant progress. I will use that if necessary.
My feeling is that there is no need to change the statement, but there has been a change of school ( primary to HS) since the statement was issued, and I know HS are not happy as it really specifies what they must do and they haven't had one like this before I don't think. I get the impression they will be pushing for things they don't fancy doing being removed by trying to prove they are not needed.
