Time I think, to sing his praises

Because in spite of the deeply depressing report I'm midway through for his statutory assessment he is actually doing really well, but if I tell them his best bits they aren't going to offer the help are they!

he's had one of his amazing 7 day turn arounds. He currently sat in real pants, which he wears whenever we're at home [and when we pick up ds1 from school in the afternoon] a week ago I would have told you he was months off toilet training, now it seems like we could crack in a couple of months, I'm amazed by it I really am. He's still in a nappy at night and for preschool, once we're at the stage when he can indicate he needs to go we can work on full time pants...

Now he's back at preschool his behaviours getting back to usual, and he's very sociable, we had visitors yesterday and he wouldn't stop telling them the colours of his duplo... normally he lies face down behind the sofa till he's had enough then shouts bye at them..

anyway best take hime to the toilet, its been an hour!

Sounds like things are good EmmaLou, but don't tell the LEA that! Toilet training going to plan too, and good with visitors, wahey!

emmalou78 · 28/04/2006 20:31

as far as the LEA are concerned he is unable to use the toilet unprompted and a assisted... oh and I shall be mentioning his fascination with 'dipping and smearing' Shock

Mind you, things change so fast although they don't seem to! I read something I wrote for DS's Transition Review last Nov and its amazing how much the little day-to-day things have changed (sleep pattern always changing). So its true that you should present your DS's worst days as you can't possibly know what things will be like when they get to consider it. Looking at my report, I wouldn't say things were worse than then but certainly different in the detail, but not really overall.....

emmalou78 · 28/04/2006 20:42

oh yes, the report is his worst days combined, but I'm with our PSEST that it has to be, because he needs support at that level to make sure he carries on at the levels he is acheiving and goes on beyond that.

I say he's doing well, but he is sat saying nononononononono and licking his brothers cheeks as I type.. he's a 'character'
