DS5 who is 3.4 has been undergoing the two week assessment and we had the review appt yesterday, which has resulted in not very much at all - the report bore little resemblance to how he had actually behaved, but this is by the by - the speech therapist in her section said ' we will continue to support the child in the nursery setting and at home' - now, we have had no speech therapy intervention whatsoever - we had an assessment last August, but nothing came of it and after DH went to the SALT office weekly, someone came out about a month ago, but the appt was poorly timed, as I told them when they booked it and he fell asleep half way through. He is being referred on for assessment by Midlands Psych so we are yet to receive an official diagnosis, but the word autistic has been bandied about. It seems we are unable to access additional help until he has a 'label', BUT he has hardly any language at all (this is further complicated by the fact he had severe glue ear for 12 months between just under 2 to just under 3 - non responsive health visitor constantly refused to refer, hence it not being resolved sooner).

On recommendation, I have invested in the More Than Words book by Fern Sussman, but is there anything online, or any other books or tips any of you could please share with me to try and help him along? I will, of course, pester SALT regularly, but think the more intervention he has the better. Thank you so much for reading and I'm sorry it's so long...

Also ICAN and AFASIC
Speech therapy and ABA clips on youtube

Cerebra do a speech therapy voucher scheme (£500) for children who need direct therapy and have waited or will need to wait more than 6 months, to be used for private therapy.
