Just trying to understand why dd seems to go through phases of increased (what I think is) sensory seeking where she has to babble/high pitched noises, swing around, go upside down etc etc more than other times

Anxiety usually, as well as boredom and sometimes excitement.

Tired, worried, thirsty, hungry, coming down with a bug, noisy environment, sitting still for a long time (screen time usually, though long journeys can do it to if I don't plan carefully.)

If I cant see an 'obvious reason' like dinner time/screen time, i'll have a little chat and see if I can figure out why he might be anxious.
Though as he doesn't recognise anxiety in himself, that can be a Sherlock Holmesian endeavour.

Thanks, reading the responses I think it could be a combination of some of those factors. dd was unwell last week so that could be something to do with it, also as its half term week and no playgroup her routine has been disrupted maybe making her anxious, she has had more screen time too and is probably bored. I will have to see if the same factors are present next time I find it happening.
