Feeling so fed up with conflicting advice

As you know dd (6) has Adhd, language disorder and is now being assessed for Aspergers.
Well last time I saw phsych. she said if any asd would be AS.
Now today she has said due to dd's language disorder it can't be AS, but will be asd instead.
It's the confusion that annoys me the most.
I am fed up with the whole dx process. It's a bl**dy nightmare :(

DSW - I am totally with you on the 2 steps forward and 5 back :(
Tbh I have been the one that has always insisted dd has an asd but noone in the professional field agreed until now.
They really do not know what this uncertainty does to us parents.

ds2 has no dx and doubt we will ever know tbh
but the most important thing is that each child has their own personality and needs
and not to let the system bog us down

What a headache for you Blossomhill. All these different labels and diagnosis are set to confuse as all. My ds at 3 was diagnosed with ASD, and not AS due to his speech delay. Apparently in order to get a diagnosis of AS there has to be no delay in speech up to 3 yrs old. Strange thing though, my ds who is now 6 and has been described by his SALT as having a severe social communication problem is now being described as AS by his SALT, but still ASD by his paed.

I was wondering, is it going to be AS with a language disorder (SPD) or HFA??? Will watch this space. How are the meds going?

macwoozy - you have hit the nail on the head, it's a headache!!!!!!! I think even the pros get confused to be honest :-s

Davros - watch this space indeed! I was all set for an AS dx and now I feel a bit fed up tbh. I guess a less specific term like asd may be used?
The medication is going really well still thanks. School have basically (fingers crossed) had no incidents at all this term, which is great! It has helped so much with the concentration and I think it has helped dd's self esteem too.

our "specialist" gave 3 oposing opinions in first 3 consultations. She's now sticking with AS although all therapists disagree & Ds has a big language delay at 5.8. Have learned to be happy that he's getting what he needs regardless of no dx yet & very annoying doctor, but took me a long time to get to this point!!
