I have a 7 year old with dyspraxia. This weekend he and his father had (another) very frustrating session trying to teach him to ride his bike. It made me think hard about whether I should now give him a name and explanation for why he finds some things much harder than others. I know he sometimes feels stupid or 'rubbish' when he can't seem to do things as easily as his brothers or friends, even though we talk about different people being good at different things. However I don't want him to feel more different, or that there is something 'wrong' with him - especially since he has made some great progress and is fitting in well at school.

is it time to talk to him about it?

My Ds was pleased to hear his Dx of ASD he was older at 12 so I think he understood it well. Are there any books suitable to help you explain?
