Awaiting dx, but dd and I struggling

Not sure if I'm in the right place, but I have a dd almost 6
Who had had ados report at cahms after being referred from spa team suspected a neurodevepmental disorder.

I have an appointment at the end of the month with her and a consultant, and the main guy I saw at cahms who said she sounded 'classic'

I trying to step away from google!
However my dd is really struggling
She had vocal tics which is like a 'hmm' noise and is getting increasing distressed by it and says her friends at school keep picking on her and telling her to stop, and she says ' but I can't help it can i mum'

It doesn't help that whn she comes back from her dads visits, she says her dad an grandad also tell her to stop.

She also has twitches/ head rolls/ eye glares and twitches, moth and nose twitches
Very hard to describe.

She hits herself constantly, has scars up her arms where she picks herself, hardly eats
Hardly sleeps!
Easily frustrated, ignores all instructions
Even simple things such as get you shoes on please.

School say she is fine and have no concerns.
Although she has to religiosity wave from the same spot at the same window, and the teacher says she has poor concentration span, is easily distracted and is away with the fairies, they say she loves the reading corner the best but doesn't seem to understand Whot she is reading.

But yet they say they have no concerns.

I should add tht I have a 4yr ds who has also been referred to CDC
I was unsure that he had issues, as I can see what is copied from his sister, however I have noticed certain things in the last 6 months.
It was the lady from spa team that came to visit dd, that spotted traits in him straight away.

My sister has 3 Dcs and her eldest ds has aspergers
Her youngest ds has SPd selective mutism and other things going on.

I have an older brother with three children who are also all on the spectrum.

I suppose I was just wondering if anyone had any advice/ help or similar issues as me.

It worries me that school say nothing is wrong and that I doubt it all.

So sorry for long post, just need to speak to others
As my siblings children and mine are all so different in their 'ways'

Also to add my dd has so much time off school due to illness
Mainly tonsillitis.

Worries about the time off school, but also that he say she hates it. She says its so boring and they repeat everything all the time, and mainly she comes home saying her teacher pulls funny faces at her and she doesn't like it, so appears to ' kick off' at 3pm every day

She does struggle with facial expressions and hates it if I do it too.

I have done lots of work with her and drawn facial expressions to help her try and understand what they mean.

The school is not great with all this, which makes me unsure what route to take neXt with them, my sister has dealt with that school for many years
Her eldest ds is 14 and didn't get dx till he wa ten.
She has had a constant battle, so it doesn't fill me with confidence in fighting dds corner.
Would I be best to wait till the appoinemt at te end of the month to see if I get a dx before I go into school all guns blazing
Or raise my concerns today? ( I have an appoinemt with the head teacher this afternoon to discuss dds attendance falling below 90%)

I'm not much help I'm afraid. But speaking to my nursery about my son, they said I should be prepared to fight for appointments & diagnosis.

So I think you will need to fight.

Make the gp do a referral to the paediatrician etc.

As to see the school Senco.

Good luck x

GPS useless
He even mimicked her vocal tic in the surgery the other day whilst typing up her prescription!

Just found out we have a new senco this morning so will make appointment to see her.
Thank you

I would now look at other schools because even if your DDs additional needs were at all acknowledged, they may not want to properly support her.

I would take your sister's experiences with that school as a warning. Many staff at school are simply not skilled or trained enough to recognise a child who has additional needs and this school do sound particularly unhelpful.

Re your comment:-
"She says its so boring and they repeat everything all the time, and mainly she comes home saying her teacher pulls funny faces at her and she doesn't like it, so appears to ' kick off' at 3pm every day"
This is a clear indicator that her needs at school are not being met. She is also kicking off at home because its safe for her to do so, she has bottled up all the frustrations of the school day.

I would also now look at IPSEA's website www.ipsea.org.uk and apply for the statement from the LEA even if you do not receive a firm dx at the next appt.

If GP is useless change GP practice. That is easier to do these days.

Thank you so much for replying
I have started the process of changing gp's this week
Me and dd have to go for a mini medical with the nurse nest Wednesday
Apparently it takes 3/4 weeks to move over, so I have apparently got to see this gp until transferred over. At least iv got the ball rolling.

Will look at that link now thank you

Sorry to sound a bit dumb but what do you mean by applying for the statement from the dla?
