Tomorrow will be either yes/no for SA. either they will assess or no. Tomorrow will also be yes/no for dd current private school. they are not allowing my aba tutors in saying dd is age appropriate. LA EP sent their report saying dd is quite below her age and 1:1 is recommended. I am floored....LA EP is best person I've ever known. She has saved me 1500 gbp. found another nursery which has allowed therapists in without knowing dd's condition. let's see how it goes.

SparkleSoiree · 30/01/2013 23:55

Zumbaleena how did it go today? Smile

zumbaleena · 31/01/2013 00:26

Oh hello all.....no clue what was the decision. I was told the letter will come next week

zumbaleena · 31/01/2013 00:28

But the independent school dd goes to....agreed to trying ABA. So that is a good thing. At least I will stop running around for other schools here and there

Have got massive butterflies in my stomach regarding the decision. A parent can,t really rest until their child,s future is settled.

I know how you feel....we were lucky in that we had our decision emailed over to us pending the hard copy in the post so we knew quite quickly.

Fingers crossed it's the decision you want!

amumtothree · 31/01/2013 12:27

zumba - we were given the outcome over the phone pending a letter. If your deadlines passed then the should be able to save you the wait. Good luck

flowwithit · 31/01/2013 13:22

Good luck! We are still waiting to find out ours so I know how you are feeling. Keep us informed

zumbaleena · 31/01/2013 13:33

From the above replies it looks like we have probably been turned down, cos in the nstances where they said yes, the people were informed either on phone or on e mail. Well.....I always xpected the worst

Hi zumbaleena, we are going for statutory assessment too. I have had no phone calls, I was just advised by letter so don't lose hope, probably just differs in different areas.

zumbaleena · 31/01/2013 18:34

Too bad! We were told no

Wondering what to do! Will order pizza - comfort food! And then think hard....will stay strong thru this whole process....v v strong

flowwithit · 31/01/2013 20:32

Oh no really sorry to hear that I'm sure you are so disappointed but try to think of it as only round 1!

zumbaleena · 31/01/2013 20:37

I know....strangely I am not disappointed...dd has made amazing progress, hence we knew her case will be turned down but we also know she is not good enough to go into school without 1:1. And we cannot fund forever

OP posts:
Dev9aug · 31/01/2013 21:26

zumba I don't mean to sound negative but the process of getting funding could take up 18months from start to finish.

It is very normal for them to refuse SA, then you appeal, they issue a NIL/crap statement, you appeal again and only then you will get a half decent package from the LEA, so you may have a long fight ahead of you.

zumbaleena · 31/01/2013 21:38

I know...dev9 you are 100% right. I have read so much about horror stories of statementing here that I have realised there is no point n crying or worrying over it. This is a battle we have to fight for dd.....so we will. The more energy I put into strategizing the stronger my case will be. I just feel quite lost sometimes and alone in this maze! As you have to stay strong and sprightly for dd for her ABA program, her school, her teaching and biomed program...do all the research and also for DP who is working his butt off to fund this whole thing. I seriously wonder where SN mums get their strength from. And to lead a dual life on top of that...maintain normal friendships talking about random stuff and then a virtual life with SN mum friends

To be honest....ours is such a twisted case and dev9aug has helped us so much along this path that God bless them. Dd is def asd but she doesn't.t get a flicking diagnosis. We went private for a diagnosis cos we wanted asd on her diagnosis papers. And the private ped said she has complexities and egocentric immature behavior and that we as parents were babying her....damn the ped, are we in 2012 or in 1950s

SparkleSoiree · 31/01/2013 22:40

Zumbaleena we got a no too (via email) but we are doing down the appeal route. Taken a while to get our heads around the bureaucracy of it all but we're on course now. Please don't feel alone or lost, I think it's common when you are embarking upon this route...there are lots of us to support you.

Dev9aug good to know what to expect, sorting ourselves out for a long fight ahead too!

Dev9aug · 31/01/2013 22:42

You mean 2013 right, Grin and you are very welcome.

flowwithit · 01/02/2013 09:02

Have you got parent partnership? They have been good for us so far.

FightingForSurvival · 01/02/2013 09:50

Smile OP you know why I am smiling.

Very sorry you got turned down. Try again. Honking for you.
