Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

DD referred for 3DI - any recent experience? She's 11 and can't cope with yr 7.

I'm new to this section of the board. Thread a couple of weeks ago that was really helpful here. Looking at other threads on here looks like we may be at the beginning of a long journey, but I feel hopeful that she might get some help if a diagnosis is made. Naive?

Does anyone have any experience of the 3DI process for a DC this age and any advice?

It's meant to be a very good test for difficult to diagnose kids (older, female, verbal, high IQ) so it sounds ideal. If she's borderline, you can ask for further tests / reviews, or a second opinion.

You can tell school she has a number of social-communication difficulties, and some ASD-like traits, and is awaiting further assessment, That there is a family history of ASD and you'd like x, y and z put in place now.

That should do the trick, but if they wont help, say other family history means she's at high-risk of becoming very unwell if she goes to pieces.... in the unlikely event you need to go nuclear, ask for a written risk assessment of the possibility of triggering psychosis by failure to make reasonable accommodations Wink.

These are descriptions, rather than diagnoses, so it's ok to bandy them round before the full assessment results.

Wow - thank you - DD would be difficult to diagnose she is all four of the things you mention.
The school are doing their best to ignore her, so I could ask for the risk-assessment. Good plan! My inclination is always to try and work with people, but eventually that might not work.
