Just got letter giving our paed appointment (real one this time).

Sorry, I'm new to mumsnet so didn't know - is it ok to say the name of the paed and ask if anyone has had any experience with them?of course I understand if that's not ok!

Welcome to Mumsnet. Smile

It's fine, you can ask and then it's up to people whether they want to reply on the thread or pm you.

The Dr Foster website might help you to find out a bit more about them.

Thank you very much! Ok, it's dr basia beilinski, I'm seeing her in Worcester and after googling see that she gave a talk about autism in children at Birmingham hospital, so I'm glad if that's one of her areas of expertise as I think that's what dd's signs are pointing too. Of course i know nobody is going to diagnose a 9 month old baby but just maybe she will be able to pick up anything that we need to keep an eye on.

When is the appt wewill? Really glad for you that things are moving. Is your HV going to make an audiology appt for you?

WillWeBeOk · 26/01/2013 10:37

It's quite soon, 8th feb. no she hasn't said anything about an audiology appointment - should I ask her ?

Definitely. Or the GP. Or even call audiology direct and ask.

They might have put the tel number on the newborn hearing screen result (found it shoved in the back of DS's red book)

Other useful things to do now are put yourself on the portage waiting list, sign up for some sort of weekly baby class at the local children's centre (baby massage, parents as first teachers, music, sign and sing... doesn't really matter which, anything regular where someone professional can help you keep an eye on your dd).

And the toy library... you might find you have to try 10-20 toys before you find one which grabs her attention. I wish someone had told me orrowing would be better than optimistically buying and trying various useless toys, then giving up in despair.
