is there any others out there with a combination, which mean life isn't as straight forward as all these positive stories you hear?

We don't have that combination, but DS1 has ADHD and ASD that looks suspiciously like PDA.

Sort of Boing! Boing! Rarrrrggghhhhh!!!!!!!

hi dd has asd, adhd and currently being assessed for PDA. PDA seems to fit her really well. Autism strategies generally do not work for her and I have to say PDA is really really difficult to deal with. The advice I would give and have been given is to bring humour in as much as possible, choose your battles and avoid confrontation whereever possible. Its very against "normal" parenting and people think you give in and pamper the child but it really is a very different way of parenting. There is one book on PDA called understanding pathological demand avoidance and is well worth a read. Hope that might help a bit.

yep Fairy, I have read the book lol.

DS won't leave the house unless it's for a ride in the car. However he doesn't leave the car. Any ideas on how to get him out?

TIA x

As you might know I have 3 adults with DS.
Am absolutely certain all have autism,OCD and one is irrationally scared of heights, glass bridges (as in hospitals and shopping malls) drains!!! and grills on pavements over basement windows. Drives us potty.
DS is so neat and tidy puts me to shame.
Other DS is obsessed with Royal Family and buys and reads every thing about fore mentioned family.
Can't offer any advice but many friends have the same problem.
Take care

Think the combination is complicated, but if you could magic away just one of the three, I bet losing the PDA that'd change your lives. So that's the one where small improvements are likely to gave most impact, and therefore the one to keep chipping away at.
