This is the second appointment at CAMHS.The first one really was just to meet DS and talk about concerns.
This one is with senior OT.
I'm still learning has i go along this long path of SEN.
So anybody had any experience and/or advice?
Thanks.

OT can assess motor skills, motor planning, coordination, visual perception, sensory issues, and probably loads of other stuff.

Dd3 had her assessment at home and in total it took about 2 hours. She had to do lots of different things from standing on one leg to copy writing.

Good luckSmile

as Ineedmorepatience said.

Maybe have a note on you or on your head about his developmental milestones e.g. when he sat, rolled, crawled, stood, managed stairs. Has he been ok with learning to feed himself, can he manage to make a snack, get clothes out and get dressed by himself, ride a bike. What is his handwriting like?

Maybe also note, any 'quirks' that you think are 'just DS' e.g doesnt like socks, funny about handling fleece, gets agitated in the supermarket, hangs upside down to watch tv.

First appointment will prob be standardised assessments of movement, possibly visual perception (depending on the referral information), handwriting and listening to your concerns.
Good luck.

We have been seen there, is the Senior OT Betty Hutchon? She is very nice but everyone I have seen there has been great. My DS was assessed doing lots of different activities to see where his actual level was compared to his age level. He was then offered a course of OT sessions which has been amazing. It is a bit like having a private gym teacher, but as well as practising balancing on balls, swings and trampolines they also look at going up and down stairs, holding pens etc. Really good to get in the system and have all this help available.
