ds has recently got increasingly difficult to manage in the car recently. He has a crelling harness but has the ability to get his arms out of the restraint.
we have a small family car via mobility (ds gets hrc & hrm) this has never been an issue up till now, he's had a mobility car since he was 3.
I am battered and badly bruised this morning after an incident in the car last night where he completely lost it :(
We have 2 years to run on this car contract and his dla renewal is due in july, was given for 7 yrs last time.
Does anyone have any Knowledge on a) ending a current contract early b) getting a new contract for a car with less than a yr left on dla award c) any cars that i could effectively isolate ds from me when I am driving.
I am absolutely gutted this morning, the only thing that i can actually do with ds is go for a drive, he is on 2-1 support currently with everyone else.
Could anyone give me advice please or even some honks :(
Am not a huge regular on this part of mn but really don't want to put this on the main board as a flaming would finish me.
Thanks in advance

ring motability, if the car no longer suits your needs they may look at changing it sooner.
a friends ds was deemed no longer safe to transport if not secured in his wheelchair so they had to swap from a people carrier to a wheelchair accessible vehicle 9 months in to a 3 yr contract.
The WAV did have a larger £ upfront payment but the garage & motability were very helpful.
Incidently her people carrier was adapted so that the boot could not be opened from the inside & her ds always travelled in the back row, even if he got out of his harness it would allow her time to safely pull over before he could climb over the seats.
It was only a worsening of his seizures & his own safety that means he has to use a wheelchair most of the time.

thank you
motorbility's website was down today so did'nt like to phone as they would no doubt be busy. not very good at this asking for help lark esp as I will have to apply for financial assistance from them much prefer to muddle on our own (social services exempt from that though!)
